The political class in Ikorodu Division has again expressed its disappointment at the reward system of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging marginalisation despite working and delivering to the party in terms of electoral returns.

Chieftains of the party again stated their grievances to the State APC Reconciliation Committee on 2026 post -primary elections led by Hon. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, which held last Thursday at the APC Secretariat in Ikorodu.

Speakers at the parley insisted before the panel that Ikorodu Division deserves better treatment for its leading electoral roles and consistency with the party.

Hon. Niyi Osho, Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to the Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, emphasised the need for the party to allocate more cabinet and SSAs positions to Ikorodu.

“Ikorodu has been clamouring for equitable share and fair treatment especially concerning Commissionership and Special Adviser’s positions and I led a peaceful protest in this regard after the last general elections.”

“We always work and deliver for the party but the party does not give us adequate reward in terms of Commissioners, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants position. They usually appoint over 60 SSAs and hardly do we get one in Ikorodu. Ikorodu deserves at least two Commissioners and 10 SSAs

“We are being marginalised as a division in Lagos State and also as a local government,” he stressed.

Calling for review of the APC reward system, Osho assured the state officials of the party that the division will deliver again at the forthcoming general elections.

“Ikorodu is also at disadvantage with the single allocation that is being distributed to six council, so, the party should review its reward system.

“We have been instructed by our leaders before your intervention that we must work towards 300, 000 votes but we need encouragement and assurance that the party will duly reward Ikorodu when we work and deliver adequately.“

Former Executive Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Jide Banjoko, also faulted the party’s reward system stating that Ikorodu is always marginalised when it comes to political appointments especially appointment into the state cabinet.

He urged the chairman of the reconciliation committee to present the position of Ikorodu on adequate reward system to President Bola Tinubu for proper action.

Mr Ogala, while calling on the State APC executive members on the reconciliation panel to take note of the request, assured that the matter will also be tabled at the highest level of the party, he, however, said that Ikorodu is blessed with four GAC members who are part of the decision making when it comes to appointment.

“The point is very well noted and we will pass on the message that Ikorodu complained about appointment, however, we are complaining because we are in government. Members of the PDP cannot make such complaints and if we want to have good bargaining power and strength, we must deliver first,” he said.
